Introducing: Mindaugas Neverovas, ISM piano teacher




Where are you from and what instruments do you play?
I am from Lithuania and I play piano.

If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
All of my life, medical sciences have interested me. So, maybe I could be a medical doctor.

Where did you study?
I graduated as a bachelor of music from Lithuanian Academy of Music, and as a master of music from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. I also studied at the Sibelius Academy for two years.

Where are you studying now?
I’m studying music pedagogy at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.


What was the thing that got you interested in music?
My family is very musical and they encouraged me to play piano. Of course I was also very much into it myself when I was a kid.

Why are you in Finland?
I came to study to Sibelius Academy where I met my fiancée. After studying together abroad we came back to Finland and now we are both working here.

Who is your favourite musician/composer?
There’s no one favorite since all the classical and romantic composers are great.

What has been your most special musical experience to date?
My first performance with an orchestra. I was the soloist and played Haydn concerto.

Do you have any secret/not-so-secret (unmusical) talents?
I like languages and I’m able to learn new languages quite quickly.

Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I like to eat cookies and sometimes sleep long.

Tea or coffee?
In the morning coffee, in the evening tea.

Cats or dogs?
Cats

Salad or Pizza?
If hungry, pizza. If not, salad.

What is your favourite country to visit?
It would be nice to visit some Caribbean islands.

What is your favourite season?
Summer

What is your favourite food?
Sushi

Do you have hobbies?
I play tennis a lot and I go often to swim and to sauna.

If you could take three things to a desert island, what would you take?
My fiancée, my family and a boat.

Do you have any pets?
No.

Introducing: Silvia Melero Gómez, ISM Piano teacher




Where are you from and what instruments do you play?
I am from Spain and I play piano and sing (not professionally).

If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
I would definitely be teaching, but maybe something different.

Where did you study?
I finished in Spain a bachelor's + master's degree on teaching music and a bachelor's degree on teaching music in school.

Where are you studying now?
I'm currently finishing a master's degree on teaching Spanish as a foreign language, through Barcelona University.

What was the thing that got you interested in music?
My mum playing piano and my dad singing and playing guitar.

Why are you in Finland?
Always the same question, why not? :) It is a wonderful country.

Who is your favourite musician/composer?
Do I have to choose? Many of them for many different reasons.

What has been your most special musical experience to date?
No idea, but I enjoy singing in choirs.

Do you have any secret/not-so-secret (unmusical) talents?
I cook delicious food, if that counts.

Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Eating dark chocolate.

Tea or coffee?
Tea.

Cats or dogs?
Dogs.

Salad or Pizza?
It depends on the particular pizza or salad.

What is your favourite country to visit?
The one I'm visiting each time ;)

What is your favourite season?
Early autumn in Helsinki, spring in Spain.

What is your favourite food?
My father's paella and every one of my mother's dishes.

Do you have hobbies?

 Quite a few of them: reading, learning languages, cinema, gathering with friends, singing in choirs, swimming... What I don't unfortunately have is time for all of them.

I am from Persia and I play Guitar.

Carpentry

I studied in Persia, and later on here in Finland and Germany.

I don’t study at the moment

The MUSIC

I live in Finland

I have so many favourite musicians

Introducing: Sonja Virtanen, ISM Woodwind teacher





Where are you from and what instruments do you play?
I’m from Helsinki and I play the saxophone, flute, clarinet and recorder.

If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
That’s a tough one. I think I’d either be an English teacher or a midwife.

Where did you study?
I studied at Pop&Jazz Conservatory and Leeds University.

Who is your favourite musician/composer?
My favourite musician is the saxophonist Cannonball Adderley.

Do you have any secret/not-so-secret (unmusical) talents?
I’m good at weightlifting!

Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Pick and mix Amazon sweets.

Coffee.

Pizza, but just on special days.
